Your roadmap

From idea to landing in the UK, in order.

1

12–18 months before: Research. Shortlist courses and universities. Check rankings, course content, placement year options and city living costs.

2

9–12 months: Exams. Book IELTS/PTE/Duolingo (check what each university accepts). Some courses need GRE/GMAT or a portfolio.

3

6–9 months: Apply. Direct via UCAS (undergraduate) or university portals (postgraduate). Prepare SOP, references, transcripts.

4

4–6 months: Offer and funding. Accept your offer, pay the deposit, apply for scholarships and arrange your funds and education loan.

5

3 months: CAS and visa. Receive your CAS, apply for the Student visa, book biometrics, pay the health surcharge.

6

1–2 months: Prepare to fly. Accommodation, forex card, flights, insurance, packing.

7

Arrival: Settle in. Collect your BRP/eVisa details, open a bank account, register with a GP, enrol at university.

Universities by category

Pick what matters most: budget, course strength, easier entry or jobs.

These are indicative ranges for international students, not guarantees. “Entry level” is the typical minimum percentage in an Indian degree (it varies by course and year). Fees change every year, and no university has a fixed “pass percentage”. Always check the official course page and the university’s India requirements page.

Costs and budget
